Ketch-Up Day

How was your weekend and first day of the week?

Not too much going on here. We currently have Fox Sparrow hatchlings  in the garden area. They are not impressed when I try to water or weed.

This was their nest:

I just don't understand the appeal of building your home in a thorny rosebush, but I guess it keeps predators away.

We now have pathways strewn with rose petals. Grin.

 AND

Berries coming:)

I fixed sixteen bean soup for the first time in the crock pot. Wasn't too bad.

These are such a hoot. One of my bro's, SIL, and I had the digital concept on line action figures made. Have you done that yet? We did ours at ChatGPT.  I was very relieved when the HH said that my action figure didn't look like me. Heh.  Mine is not particularly attractive but fun.

 That's it here, blogger buds.

Have you had your online action figures done yet? Fixed bean soup lately?  How's your garden?  And last but not least, YOU have a grand week.

I've never heard of a Fox Sparrow, but I can see the need for privacy in a thorny bush. I miss my blackberry bush. It died, although it had done so well until last year.

Your soup sounds delicious. Now I want to make some.

I've never heard about the action figures, but I haven't gotten into ChatGPT. It sure looks like fun, though. Yours looks like all the things you enjoy having around you. Hope your week is starting off great, dear Sandra.

SIXTEEN ???? bean soup? That would keep you regular.
The nest in the rose bush is probably a smart move.
Love your garden. No action figures here (and not much action either).

Hi Sandra - that bean soup sounds (??) interesting ... but so so tasty. Clever bird building a nest in amongst the thorns - they'll be safe. Our here was Victory in Europe weekend - actually the 8th - but there were events going on around the country. I was with some friends raising funds for our local Hospice ... much needed in these desperate times. Cheers Hilary

Who even knew there were sixteen varieties of beans in the grocery stores? Not sure I want to ride in the car with you with the windows down! On Saturday I led a bird walk in a local park and today I will be leading another over in Huron County. Lots going on this time of year.

I love the rose petal strewn path...the bean soup, maybe not so much.

My garden is pathetic and weedier every day. I thought I'd get out this morning and pull weeds after yesterday's rain -- but it's raining again. I didn't know you could make your own action figures. Fun! Very cool to have nesting happening in your bush, although it is an odd spot. I suppose it is also a pretty safe one! Have a lovely week!

Lovely rose petals

The fox sparrows are larger than regular sparrows and a reddish-brown with speckles on their breasts.
I'm sorry to hear your blackberry bush died:( That is disappointing.
The soup was only missing the cornbread. Bean soup seems to be a Midwestern/Southern thing doesn't it?
YOU have a grand one, dear Elizabeth.

The dolls are funny.

Both my raspberries and blackberries have berries budding on them.

I just planted my vegetable garden. In about a week, I think it'll be safe to plant flowers. It'll be a bit before my rose bushes bloom like yours.

I'm glad you enjoyed the garden path, Andrew:)

Jeanie, Gardening would be so much more enjoyable without the weeds, wouldn't it?:)
Someone nested in one of the rose bushes last year too. I never seem to spot the nests until they are empty:)

Thanks, Rue. You too:)

Yes, the figures are a hoot:)

FSG, I love blue spruces and I bet that is driving Mackerull crazy. Do you live near Indianapolis? We used to live in Lafayette.

Natalie, Yay for getting the vegetables in. What did you plant?

Thanks, JP. Sending you hugs,

A thorny bush sounds like the perfect place to avoid predators...hmm...that sounds a bit risquรฉ. I have to check out my online superhero...

I like the action figures! It's gloomy and rainy here, but we need the rain.
